Msida — 5th October Roundabout
5th October Square Roundabout, Msida
The busiest junction in Malta, and the camera most worth learning to read. The 5th October Roundabout is where the Sliema/St Julian's corridor, Valley Road from Birkirkara and the Valletta approach all meet — when this circle locks up, the delay radiates outwards in every direction within minutes.
What to look for: traffic moving through the circle, even slowly, means the network is coping. Vehicles stationary ON the roundabout itself — not just on the approaches — is the danger sign; that is when a 15-minute journey becomes 45. At morning peak the inbound queue builds from about 07:30; if this camera already looks solid at 07:15, take the Mrieħel Bypass corridor instead of anything that passes through Msida.
